14 new projects receive RE:Source funding

Six demonstration projects and eight research and innovation projects are now starting within RE:Source. A total of SEK 57.3 million has been granted in call funds, which is more than the approximately SEK 35 million that was planned.

– This year’s applications have been really, really good! Therefore, we have chosen to use next year’s call budget already this year, which means that we can grant more projects funds already in 2024, says Camilla Alfredsson, Chairman of the Board of RE:Source.

The funded projects span many sectors and different types of materials and products, such as plastics, batteries, food, construction, textiles and slag. They deal with design, service innovation, business models, digitalization, reuse, recycling and scaling up circularity.

Circular transition

– It’s always exciting for us to start up and get to know all the new projects, but above all it’s important for Sweden because it means further initiatives will get underway and can help accelerate Swedish competitiveness through the circular transition, says Klas Cullbrand, RE:Source call manager.

In total, almost 300 projects have now been launched under RE:Source since the program started in 2016.

– It is gratifying to see how the quality and content of the project applications have improved since the start of the program. It gives hope that material use, together with climate neutrality, is on many people’s agenda, says Camilla Alfredsson, Chair of the RE:Source Board.
