Road to increased material recycling of textilies within non-profit second hand

The collection of textiles for reuse is currently largely carried out within the non-profit second-hand organizations (ISH). The non-profit actors sort the material and prioritize reuse in Sweden via sales in their own stores. It provides the greatest value for the organization while working according to the waste hierarchy. It is in the challenge of textiles that cannot be reused within Second Hand that this project starts. The amount of textiles that go to incineration is too high and much of the material should be recyclable at material level in Sweden instead of being sent for incineration or recycling abroad. The project asks the questions: how can ISH organizations coordinate sorting of collected textiles to ensure the highest level of reuse and then recycling with the highest possible environmental impact, and how should a coordinated sorting facility be built up to handle separate flows from several second-hand organizations?
